Scholarship Recipient’s Internship Becomes Real Life Experience

Zac Wobschall, a 2010 L.I.F.T. Scholarship recipient, who is an art student at the Herron School of Art and Design, at IUPUI, was looking for an internship to explore career paths when he graduates with his art degree. Justin Shimp, the producer at SmallBox Web Design, the web design company for the L.I.F.T. Foundation website, gave Zac the opportunity to shadow him this semester. It soon became evident that Zac was very talented and learned quickly. Justin and Susan Kozlowski, the L.I.F.T. Foundation trustee, agreed Zac could handle both copy and photo editing of the updated website. His shadowing position became an internship.

As part of his internship Zac was assigned to put all updated copy and new photographs on the L.I.F.T. website. This entailed a great deal of learning on the job, as he had to crop pictures, make new slide shows, add new sections, and edit and update all existing articles Susan sent to him. Under the guidance of Justin, Zac has spent the last six weeks turning her extensive notes and e-mails into the refined pages of this updated website.

Justin and Susan have been quite impressed. Justin plans to have Zac do other work for him in the future. Susan will look to Zac to add the works of Susan’s Blog, beginning June 2013, to the website. He will also be placing all new copy and pictures to the website as the L.I.F.T. Foundation begins the work to come in Los Angeles, follows the progress of existing programs, and documents the successes of the L.I.F.T. Scholarship recipients. Zac, himself has found another avenue for his talents and has come to realize his skills, passions, and potential for success in a career are multi-faceted and a reality.

A special thank you for all Zac’s hard work! Susan Kozlowski continues to be proud of all Zac has accomplished.
