Zac Wobschall and his older brother were raised by their single mother, and grew up barely knowing his father, who passed away at a young age. He is a talented and bright student who is driven to succeed no matter the challenges of his everyday life.

He expresses his emotions and life in his artwork — a reflection of both the darkness in his youth and the color of hope for his future. He is insightful and eager to learn, and proud to be the first in his family to attend college. After starting his college career at Ball State, with a goal of pursuing a degree in the arts, he decided to transfer to IUPUI and attend the Herron School of Art and Design. He hopes to incorporate his love and passion for nature and the environment, as well as the inner soul, in a successful career in art and graphic design.

“If I do well in school… I feel my life afterwards will be much better and I will have more freedom to live my life the way I want. I really enjoy learning new things, and this scholarship allows me to work hard in school without the worry of how to pay for it. It allows me to use my normal income for art supplies, my family, and living expenses.”

Zac was a perfect candidate for the L.I.F.T. Scholarship, benefitting from mentoring and financial assistance for academic needs. He works many hours a week to help pay for all his own expenses and those of his family, and recognizes how his education will create positive change in his life.
