This grant has lived on after the year I received it. My goal was to create “readers for life” so they could gain a deeper understanding of the books they read and the textbook reading required of them. I wanted to widen my existing library with more high interest books at varying levels and genres to meet every student’s reading need. I did 1-on-1 conferences with students and found their ability to express themselves so much improved, NWEA scores improved and journal entries about their reading were much more interesting as they showed more interest.

“Thank you so much for this grant. My students have taken full advantage of my extended library and have currently read over 3,100 books! My most used section of my library is the non-fiction informational textbooks… They love them!”
