My name is David Bally and I am a history teacher at Lyons Community School in Brooklyn, NY. This year I taught a 12th grade class titled Guns in America that covered gun violence, gun control measures and the history of the 2nd Amendment. I do not use textbooks and had thus far relied exclusively on a library of primary and secondary sources. However, this year I felt it necessary to provide students with books that could help them with the research process.
Thanks to the L.I.F.T. Foundation mini grant I was able to purchase a variety of books that provided the students with a number of viewpoints on the subject, ultimately enriching their learning.
