I am a 2nd grade dual language teacher at Minter Bridge Elementary where we teach half the day in English and the other half in Spanish. At our school 95% of students are on free and reduced lunch and many are impacted by trauma. Because of this we use trauma informed care practices. I am very passionate about teaching social justice in our classrooms and have been working alongside other teachers to begin our “Little Justice Leaders” program. Providing students with resources to talk about social justice issues is critical to their education. With the help of the L.I.F.T. Foundation grant we were able to provide teachers with grade appropriate activities and discussion starters to use with their students. Students completed activities and crafts in order to use their creativity and expand their mindset while learning from their peers.
